Effective 1st January 2025: KLM’s Through-Checked Baggage Policy for Connections via Shanghai Pudong Airport
Passengers transferring through Shanghai Pudong International Airport can now take advantage of our updated baggage check-through service for domestic and international flights. Boarding passes for the entire journey will be issued at the departure airport.
Eligible Transfer Scenarios:
- Connecting from China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines domestic flights to KLM international flights.
Connecting from KLM international flights to China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines domestic flights*. - Connecting from KLM international flights to China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines international flights.
- Connecting from China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines international flights to KLM international flights.
Qualifying Conditions:
- Domestic and international segments must be included in the same booking and issued on a single ticket.
- Flights must be operated by KLM, China Eastern Airlines, or Shanghai Airlines.
- Transfers must occur on the same day at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
*Passengers who connect from KLM international flights to China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines domestic flights are required to wait in the designated waiting area for Customs inspection of their checked-in baggage.
Kind reminder before departure
To ensure a safe and comfortable flight, we appreciate your cooperation in adhering to our safety policies. Please take note of the following:
- Lithium battery-powered baggage: Baggage with no removable battery is forbidden both as checked or carry-on baggage. Lithium battery-powered self-balancing devices are forbidden both as checked or carry-on baggage (electric vehicle baggage, e-skates, etc.) at any watt hours and with or without the battery.
- Mobile phones must be switched off or on airplane mode during the entire flight. Wi-Fi modems are also required to be switched off to comply with airline regulations and for your safety.
